Children don’t always have the words to explain how they feel or what is worrying them. Play gives them another way to express themselves and make sense of their experiences. I use toys, games, drawing and creative activities to help children explore their feelings at their own pace, in a space where they feel safe and understood. There’s no pressure to talk or a right way to play. I follow their lead, helping them build confidence and find ways to manage feelings that might seem too big.

Being little doesn’t mean your feelings are little. Children can feel worried, sad, angry or overwhelmed, even when they can’t explain why. Sometimes these feelings show up through tears, changes in behaviour, trouble sleeping or finding it hard to be away from you. I give children a safe space to explore what’s going on through play, drawing and activities that suit them. Together, we can begin to understand their feelings and find ways to help them feel more settled, supported and able to cope.
